Orange

The Twelve x Twelve Group is hosting orange in their last color play challenge.  I love orange.  I literally have piles and piles of orange fabrics.  I take lots of pictures featuring orange, especially of poppies.  BUT, I don't think I've ever made a quilt with orange as the predominant color.  What's that about?  I wonder why.  Do any of you have colors that you love that don't make their way into your artwork?  If so, why do you suppose it is?

Some photos of orange.....

Hmmm. I almost raid red...but then I realized that my "Gold Bars" quilts are made with red silk...turquoise is my absolute favorite and I have several pieces featuring that...I love oranges (particularly cheddar) and I often managed to work that in...cobalt is another...and I have quilts with that in too....so..I guess I really used my favorite colors...

Love the pumpkin.

I used to really dislike orange, but have found I really like a darker version. I have an amazing hand dye-type metallic jacquard that needs to be a jacket--combined woith the dark orange dupioni I found on the clearance table (the advantage/disadvantage of working at a fabric store. First dibs on all the sales, but so many temptations!). Love tiger lilies & deep orange day lilies, too.
