Lily of the valley visitor....

It's been a wonderful week, filled with blessings, and I'm thankful.

- My eldest received the Dual Language award for her senior class, the first one ever issued.  She's taken two foreign languages since she was a freshman and never earned anything lower than an A in every quarter.

- She also attended prom.  Here are a few shots from her very fun weekend. I absolutely loved her blue dress, with the lovely pleats on the top and the ombre. I'm so glad she was able to enjoy the event with a group of great friends.  This is the only dance the high school has so it really was a special occasion for the kids.... but there was none of the craziness and worries you often hear about with prom.

- The evenings have been lazy and relaxed since our daughter's dance rehearsals for nationals don't start until next week.  I've enjoyed the time to read (I read The Hunger Games trilogy so I now know what that's all about), to listen to the birds announce the sunset, and to share a few rare quiet evenings with my husband.

- We welcomed a new dog into our lives.  Harvey is a medical release dog from The Seeing Eye.  One of his female littermates developed EPI, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (the pancreas stops producing the enzymes necessary for the nutrients in food to be absorbed during digestion).  Dogs without intervention starve to death, no matter how much they eat.  Fortunately, there are powdered enzymes that can be added to the dog's food to replace the deficiency and make them whole.  While asymptomatic, Harvey's blood test revealed he may get EPI, so he had to be removed from the program.  He's an absolute love and I'm so thankful we're in a position to take him in.  He's 18 months old, absolutely HUGE (his chin can rest on the kitchen table), and we all adore him.  He seems to like us, too.

- Yesterday, we had a wonderful visit with close friends -- Priscilla is our son's godmother -- whom we haven't seen in almost six years.  What's wonderful is that we picked up like we'd seen each other yesterday, though they moved across the country ten years ago.

- And today we were able to take one of our favorite Saturday outings, a trip to the Farmer's Market.  We celebrated with locally made ice pops: Wild Blueberry/ Lemon and Mango/ Strawberry.  We sat in the shade with dogs at our feet, and felt blessed.
