Concours

When we booked our vacation to Carmel, we didn't realize that the weekend we arrived was also the weekend of a huge event called the Concours. Collectors of rare, antique, and unique cars come from all over the world to display their vehicles. Even if you're not a car lover, it is fun to amble along some of the streets of Carmel to see the Batmobile or a beautiful James Bond-like car. Similar, but smaller events, are hosted around the area as well. We spent a fun evening at one such event, sampling wine, eating hors d'oeuvers, and ambling among vintage cars sparkling in the sunset. When I took pictures, I was surprised by how much fun it was to look at the lines of the old cars; I can see a few abstract quilts inspired by the curves and reflections. Oh, and check out the plaid on the seats of the vintage Mercedes. How fun is that?
