As I admired the gardens in Carmel last week, there was one garden in particular that seemed to have attracted the bees from several hives. They were just mobbing the flowers. Have you ever seen anything like this? I don't think I ever have.
Wow! I've never seen anything like that! I'll have to look tomorrow at all my gaillardia and coneflowers....
I did have a hummingbird come up to a goldfinch on a thistlefeeder....I can't figure out if the hummingbird thought the finch was a flower, or he remembered from last year that I had a feeder there...however my garden is full of hummingbird flowers right now, so I can't believe that I actually need to fill the hb feeder!
I checked my garden, and while I didn't find such a conclave of bees on my gaillardia, I did find four on one blossom of my Franklinia tree, so evidently they will do this tea-party thing....
