Every Day for Five Straight Days
Every day for the last five days I've had a chance to see Sparkling Amazons. It's been a treat. Each day I discover something new in these magnificent works of art. They're really quite remarkable. Here are two installation views:
Left to right:
Detail of Elaine de Kooning, Bullfight, 1959; oil on canvas
Sonia Sekula, Pour l'Animal Noir, 1945; ink and gouache on paper
Joan Mitchell, Slate, 1959; oil on canvas
Sonia Sekula, 7am, 1948-49, oil on canvas
Grace Hartigan, Cedar Bar, 1951; oil on canvas
Perle Fine (on wall, partially obscured), Untitled, (Prescience), 1951; oil on canvas
Marguerite Guitou Knoop, (sculpture) Abstract, 1944; stone, marble
Left to right:
Lee Krasner, The Seasons, 1957; oil and house paint on canvas
Lee Krasner, Untitled, 1953; gouache on canvas
Day Schnabel, The City, 1953; limestone steel
Grace Hartigan, East Side Sunday, 1956; oil on canvas
Come if you can to see works you might not otherwise have a chance to see.
P.S. I got a shout-out from the curator in the Acknowledgements section of the catalog. So gracious and so very cool. Thank you, Michele!
